Hey everybody,
I'm just so grateful this week. The weather's beginning to settle down into fall, and the days have been gorgeous. I'm so excited for the wonderful fall and winter season. Anyway, we had a pretty cool week. Last night, we had a fireside on member missionary work. We've been working closely with our ward mission leader to get it set up. The focus was on helping the youth become better member missionaries, and they seemed to enjoy it. I also went on exchange with a great elder that was in the MTC at the same time as me, and we had a blast.
We also had 6 people come to church that normally don't yesterday: 2 less actives we've been working with, 1 less active that just showed up, 2 nonmembers that were invited by friends, and 1 investigator that moved into our ward. It was such a miracle!
I recently read the following in the Book of Mormon, and I loved it. We also had a bunch of focus on and miracles from member missionary work this week which was really applicable. A little background is that Nephi is explaining the words of Isaiah to his brothers.
"7 And it meaneth that the time cometh that after all the house of Israel have been scattered and confounded, that the Lord God will raise up a mighty nation among the Gentiles, yea, even upon the face of this land; and by them shall our seed be scattered.
8 And after our seed is scattered the Lord God will proceed to do a marvelous work among the Gentiles, which shall be of great worth unto our seed; wherefore, it is likened unto their being nourished by the Gentiles and being carried in their arms and upon their shoulders.
9 And it shall also be of worth unto the Gentiles; and not only unto the Gentiles but unto all the house of Israel, unto the making known of the covenants of the Father of heaven unto Abraham, saying: In thy seed shall all the kindreds of the earth be blessed."
The marvelous work is the Book of Mormon, and the nourishment of the seed of Nephi is missionary work. Work that we're here to do. I love this because the Book of Mormon has been a great miracle to me, and I get to be a part of this great missionary effort.
Love you,
Elder Rogers
