Hey all,
This week has been absolutely amazing! I got to skype home yesterday,
and that was awesome. On Wednesday, we picked up Elder Clare and
dropped off Elder Crandall. One of the Elders in my district
accidentally took our car keys, so we had to wait for him to bring
them back before we got started. Later, I was put in the middle of
Cambridge, Massachusetts and had to drive home. Luckily, I had a GPS
this time. However, our phone got mixed up, and my District Leader
took it with him to Boston. To make a long story short, we had to
drive back up the next day and pick it up. Every time something funny
happens, I just have to one-up myself, I guess.
Elder Clare and I ran to the church during exercise and shot some
hoops. We ran about 4 miles. It was pretty fun, but it was probably
the longest run I've done since before the mission. We're going to
keep doing it, though. While we were at the church playing
basketball, the seminary teacher kept sending kids to see who was
playing basketball, but none of them recognized us. Anyway, after a
while, the seminary teacher came in with the intention of asking us to
leave. She thought that we were just some kids that didn't have any
affiliation with the church.. Anyway, as soon as she walked in, she
knew who we were. She then proceeded to chastise all her students who
didn't recognize us.
Alright this week, my mom deserves a shout out. She's done so much for
me, and it's definitely helped out a lot on my mission. I had the
wonderful pleasure to give a talk in church yesterday. I was asked to
speak on the service and sacrifice of the Savior and my Mother. It was
a great experience to offer some funny stories about how my mom
lovingly dealt with five rowdy, young boys.
Elder Jeffrey R. Holland said
“May I say to mothers collectively, in the name of the Lord, you are
magnificent. You are doing terrifically well. The very fact that you
have been given such a responsibility is everlasting evidence of the
trust your Father in Heaven has in you.”
I hope you all had a great Mother's day!
Love,
Elder Rogers
