Hey everybody,
A lot happened this week. We had exchanges and conference. It was pretty fantastic. The weather is starting to turn a little bit colder, and I hope the leaves turn soon as well.
I had a funny story tracting this week. We stopped by a big apartment complex. They usually have an intercom we can use to try and talk to people. When we walked in this guy was leaving, and he held the door open for us. I took it and made our way to the highest floor to begin knocking. We tried floor 5 first, though, to see what it was like. One lady wanted us to leave, but it was otherwise good. So, then we went up to the 8th floor and started working our way down. Like a fool, I forgot which floor we started on and thought it was the 6th. So we skipped it and started on 5 again. The same lady yelled at us, and I thought she was going to try and make us leave. She, didn't and we were able to finish the building. Moral of the story: I don't know... We're all weak, and I'm grateful we're allowed to make mistakes. We can always bounce back too, and the Lord will qualify our efforts. We met a Chinese lady after my mistake, and passed her off to the Chinese Elders. So, hopefully they can teach her.
My favorite conference quote was "the Book of Mormons thin pages are thick with doctrine..." Just kidding, but it made me do a double take and chuckle for a moment. I can't say if I had a favorite talk. I loved how the conference was focused on humility, and testimony. I also liked the following quote from Elder Eyring concerning a deacon who was dragging his feet to visit a less active boy in his quorum. "I'm not sure if he knew it then, but he had faith that he was on the Lord's errand." I really connected with this because sometimes, it's easy to feel that our faith isn't enough. Our effort however, is a strong act that shows how much faith in the Lord's work we really do have.
Love,
Elder Rogers
