Schedule Change
I hope your weeks have been memorable. My week was certainly busy. we had the Worldwide mission broadcast and interviews with our mission president. President Miller hinted that I might be transferred. Transfer day is on February 15, so I might be out of Narragansett before long. in the broadcast they introduced changes to the missionary daily schedule. All I know is it has been a very long time since they changed it and all my brothers are going to be jealous once they read this. They gave us an extra half hour in the morning to do whatever we want. Eat, sleep, study, exercise, you name it. We have extra time for it. Then we get another hour at night to sleep or to do whatever we want. They shortened lunch by thirty minutes, though:( We also get an extra two hours on P-day. So it's been pretty awesome the last few days.
This last week a kid named Josh walked into the church while a member was cleaning and asked two things. 1 Can I use your bathroom? 2. Can I learn more about this church? Yes! Josh is pretty cool. We taught him on Thursday and he said he would come to church this Sunday. (He was busy yesterday.) We were so blessed to meet him. Sometimes I guess, the Lord just brings people to you. My spiritual thought for this week comes from the prophet Mormon, even though its recorded in the book of Moroni. Mormon experienced the destruction of his entire nation and led them in many battles. He said "I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear." Moroni 8 :16. In times of strife we can sometimes feel that the world around us is terrible. Mormon, who experienced much much worse knows in what source he can find comfort. God's love for us is unending and perfect. With it we need not fear.
I'm super stoked this week because my district is doing a blitz on Block Island! If you look at a map of Rhode Island, it's the island on the very bottom. I took the liberty during lunch, of copying a map to my planner for reference. It's 9 square miles and 900 people who have probably never been visited by missionaries (as far as we can tell). There's no record of any missionaries going there, at least that we have.
Love,
Elder Rogers
